A ac\u00e7\u00e3o de The Day the Whores Came Out to Play Tennis, de Arthur Kopit, passa-se num exclusivo clube de t\u00e9nis – Clube de Campo do Vale Cerejas, numa alus\u00e3o ao cl\u00e1ssico O Cerejal, de Tchekhov – quando um grupo de prostitutas chega de Rolls Royce e invade os cortes.<\/p>

Os directores re\u00fanem-se para resolver o problema, mas s\u00e3o incapazes de chegar a acordo sobre como lidar com as mulheres.<\/p>

A ponte entre estes homens de classe alta e as invasoras (\u201cthe hoi polloi\u201d, na express\u00e3o de um deles) \u00e9 feita por Duncan, o mordomo, que representa dois outros segmentos marginalizados: a classe dos servos e (por insinua\u00e7\u00e3o) a popula\u00e7\u00e3o homossexual.<\/p>

A pe\u00e7a explora temas de classe, poder e sexualidade – enquanto os homens lutam para manter o controlo sobre a situa\u00e7\u00e3o, as mulheres afirmam a sua pr\u00f3pria agenda.<\/p>

Arthur Kopit, dramaturgo americano recentemente falecido, cujos textos frequentemente abordam temas pol\u00edticos e sociais, foi muito pouco representado em Portugal; a Casa da Com\u00e9dia, por\u00e9m, apresentou uma uma delirante com\u00e9dia negra da sua autoria, “Oh pap\u00e1 pobre pap\u00e1 a m\u00e3e pendurou-te no arm\u00e1rio e eu estou t\u00e3o triste”.<\/p>

Este The Day the Whores\u2026, contudo, permanece de uma actualidade contundente, sem deixar de explorar o humor negro, a s\u00e1tira dos costumes, o terrorismo verbal.<\/p>

50 anos ap\u00f3s o 25 de Abril, continua a ser necess\u00e1rio que as putas ocupem os cortes de t\u00e9nis.<\/p>
